Leilani Marty-Santos earned her PhD in Genetics, Development, and Disease at the University of Texas - Southwestern Medical Center in 2015. Her research focuses on the role that the Hox5 genes play in the establishment and maintenance of the elastin/ECM network in the lung. Her postdoctoral fellowship is in the Department of Internal Medicine through the Medical School, and she is mentored by Dr. Deneen Wellik and Dr. Eric White.
