The U-M Center for Drug Repurposing was launched by MICHR in 2019 to discover new uses for thousands of existing, FDA-approved drugs.

Since then, the CDR has partnered with scientists across U-M to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, screening >1000 FDA-approved drugs that might be effective against COVID and variants.
