Erica Marsh Appointed Associate Director at MICHR

Erica E. Marsh MD, MSCI, FACOG, has been appointed as an Associate Director at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR). In her new role, Dr. Marsh will help to shape MICHR’s vision for clinical and translational research across the University of Michigan and beyond. She has served on MICHR’s Cabinet and as the Director of MICHR’s Community Engagement (CE) program since 2018, and will continue to work closely with CE and her replacement.

Dr. Marsh is a tenured professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical School, and professor of Women’s and Gender Studies in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts. She is the Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is also the Founder and Director of the Women’s Health and Reproductive Disparities Collaborative (onWHARD), a group dedicated to advancing reproductive health through meaningful research, empowering education, and committed advocacy.

Dr. Marsh’s NIH- and foundation-funded research focuses on biological and social disparities in reproductive health. Dr. Marsh uses community engaged, translational, and health services approaches to understand health behaviors around abnormal uterine bleeding and uterine fibroids; utilization of the emergency department for gynecological services; and improving access to fertility and other specialty gynecological services. 

She is a committed community advocate, scientific mentor, and proponent of community-engaged research. She actively builds partnerships to develop relevant research agendas with diverse teams inclusive of community members and organizations, faculty colleagues, fellows, residents, and students to conduct medically and socially meaningful research and support positive research experiences.

Dr. Marsh graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and cum laude from Harvard Medical School. She completed her residency at the Integrated OBGYN Residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital followed by a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from Northwestern. Dr. Marsh joined the faculty at U-M in 2016.
