Beth LaPensee, PhD, is the Managing Director of Research Strategy at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR). She joined MICHR in 2012 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan (U-M) in cancer biology. In her MICHR role, Beth supports the development, operationalization, and advancement of MICHR’s translational science vision. She assesses the U-M research ecosystem to identify opportunities to build and test innovations that will increase the efficiency and impact of research. She also works to foster partnerships locally and nationally to extend MICHR’s reach, synergize priorities, and disseminate novel solutions for roadblocks in the translational research process. Beth serves as the administrative liaison to NIH-National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences for MICHR’s Clinical & Translational Science Award. Beth has more than a decade of experience in the fields of team science, research development, and design thinking that she leverages to advance MICHR’s translational science priorities as well as cross-disciplinary research teams across U-M.
