Dr. Julie Lumeng is a physician-scientist who has dedicated her career to research and research administration. She is the Principal Investigator of the UM1, Executive Director of MICHR, and the Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Lumeng is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic vision, and programming for MICHR and the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award. She is also the Associate Vice President for Clinical and Human Subjects Research, where she oversees the university’s Human Research Protections Program. Dr. Lumeng’s research has included randomized controlled trials of behavioral interventions in community settings, novel methods for interrogating behavior, and qualitative approaches. Throughout her career, Dr. Lumeng has been a leader in research, integrating diverse perspectives across the translational spectrum, across disciplines, and across academia and the community.
