PaTH to Patient-Centered Health and Health Care Awarded Four More Years of Funding
On December 3, 2024, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) announced it will fund the PCORnet® PaTH Clinical Research Network project, PaTH to Patient-Centered Health and Health Care, for four more years (2025-2029). The funding comes from the Infrastructure for Conducting Patient-Centered Comparative Clinical Effectiveness Research PCORnet (Phase 4) funding opportunity.
This funding includes the Network Based Research (NBR) program at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR), which is the University of Michigan point of contact for network-based, multisite national studies.
“This funding adds to the success of the prior 6 years of PCORnet® collaborations, partnering with over 200 Michigan Medicine faculty on more than 100 trial opportunities and over $2.5 Million of PCORnet® collaboration awards,” states David Williams, MICHR network based research director; professor of anesthesiology, medicine, psychiatry, and psychology; and associate director of the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center.
The PaTH Clinical Research Network (CRN), a network partner of PCORnet®, facilitates rapid, large-scale, patient-centered health research, partnering with community members and collaborating with academic research institutions and health systems nationally. They ensure that real-world data from all PCORnet partnering sites of over 30 million patients is ready for analysis and can be accessed efficiently. The PaTH Network brings together researchers, patients, caregivers, clinicians, and health system leaders from the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Health System (Coordinating Site); Boston Medical Center; Geisinger; Johns Hopkins University and the Johns Hopkins Health System; RUSH University Medical Center; Temple Health System and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University; the Ohio State University and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center; and the University of Michigan and the Michigan Medical School.
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent, nonprofit research funding organization that seeks to empower patients and others with actionable information about their health and healthcare choices.
