Applications Open for MICHR PreDoc T32 Translational Science Program
Applications are open now for the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research (MICHR) predoctoral T32 translational science program, a research and career development training opportunity. Translational science focuses on understanding the scientific or operational principles underlying a step in the translational process, with the goal of developing generalizable principles to accelerate translational research.
Students in the program will gain:
- Mentor Relationships: Build relationships with a multidisciplinary mentor team and faculty network.
- Research Skills: Strengthen your research through coursework, Research Studios, writing groups, and mock review.
- Scientific Visibility: Present your work at MICHR, disciplinary conferences, and national translational-science venues.
- Career Momentum: Create an individualized development plan and build skills for your next stage as a researcher.
PhD students currently enrolled at U-M Ann Arbor, UM-Dearborn, or UM-Flint are eligible. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for T32 funding. The ideal candidate is completing their 1st or 2nd year of a PhD program or a 3rd-year health professions student. Students will learn the fundamentals of translational science and translational research through a mentored research project and UM courses.
- Health Professional Students take 1 – 2 years away from their main program to complete graduate-level research courses AND to focus on a translational science project.
- PhD Students will integrate four (4) required UM courses into their program and complete them over the span of 2 years.
Both audiences will receive tuition support and a living stipend from the NIH.
The application deadline is Mar 29, 2027.
