Who?

Must hold a University of Michigan faculty position as an Associate Professor or Professor in a clinical or translational health field. Desired qualifications include: demonstrated experience providing research ethics and responsible conduct of research training at U-M, experience providing mentorship for K awardees and T32 trainees, evidence of cross-disciplinary (more than cross-departmental or cross-divisional) scientific collaboration in research, and the availability to attend planned program-related activities.

The Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) is the home of the University of Michigan’s Clinical and Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health. MICHR is part of a national, collaborative consortium that is focused on bringing more treatments to all patients more quickly by advancing clinical and translational science (CTS). The field of CTS aims to build an evidence base of scientific and operational approaches that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of translational research across a range of diseases and conditions. MICHR is a dynamic organization that serves as a hub of innovation and experimentation to advance research in the science of translation and accelerate the realization of interventions that improve human health.

We are seeking a faculty co-lead for our Responsible Conduct of Research Training program (RCR) within the Education & Mentoring Group. This includes coordinating with the program faculty lead to teach structured RCR seminars that meet federal training requirements, as well as providing training in the conduct of valid informed consent in quarterly workshops. This faculty position carries a commitment of 5% effort per 12-month calendar year.

Duties:
The EMG faculty co-lead for RCR will work closely with the RCR program lead and the Faculty Lead for Education & Mentoring at MICHR to engage K awardees and clinical research professionals across U-M in RCR training. The role and responsibilities include:

  • Assist RCR faculty lead to provide RCR training at MICHR; 10 workshops per year
  • Provide training in valid informed consent training offered quarterly by MICHR to U-M faculty and staff
  • Provide content expertise to EMG staff to update online RCR training materials
  • Provide individual RCR consultations to MICHR K12 scholars and T32 trainees
