Do you dream of spending more time doing science and less time doing project coordination?

Is your team struggling to collaborate because of unclear roles and expectations, confusing deadlines, and disagreements over how to organize your work?

You may just need better systems!

While most of us pay only minimal attention to the research systems that support our work, research shows that robust project, information, data, collaboration, and dissemination management systems can help your team do more rigorous and reproducible science while freeing up valuable time and energy for doing the science you love. Systems that facilitate, rather than hinder, your science can also help your team be more productive and more satisfied with their work!

In this hands-on workshop for early-career researchers, staff scientists, and post-docs, we’ll cover:

  • Practical strategies and tools early-career researchers can implement right now to meet the opportunities and challenges of leading collaborative science
  • The critical research support systems every lab or research team needs
  • A tested approach to easily design, build, implement, and test the systems you need using the scientific method with a dash of design thinking
  • How to adapt what we know about leading and managing effective teams for YOUR unique science, context, and preferred ways of working

You’ll walk away with a concrete plan to craft evidence-based systems that support your team and your collaborative work… now and into future interdisciplinary collaborations!

This workshop is free and limited to 25 participants, so be sure to register early. Three attendees will be randomly selected to receive a one-hour post-workshop coaching session with Dr. Rolland to help them implement their system-development plans!

You must be affiliated with the University of Michigan to register. Once registration has reached 25 participants, additional registrants will be placed on a wait list. This workshop is in-person only.

Dr. Rolland has been leading and facilitating team science at institutions across the country for than 15 years. With more than 50 publications and over $12M in NIH funding as a Principal Investigator, she has developed resources to help individuals and teams do more high-impact team science. Her research focuses on coordination and collaboration in team-science projects, including how to design, build, and evaluate infrastructure to support complex, multi-investigator initiatives. She is also a certified professional coach and coaches early-stage investigators in building sustainable team science research programs.
