What is this resource?
The Research Readiness and Partnership Protocol (R2P2) is a community-academic roadmap for building research partnerships that produce meaningful public health impact, especially during crises. Created by faculty and staff from the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) at the University of Michigan, in partnership with Community Based Organizational Partners (CBOP), R2P2 emerged from lessons of the Flint Water Crisis, when residents first sounded the alarm and existing partnerships proved insufficient for urgent action. The protocol includes a living detailed Flint Water Crisis timeline, guidelines and resources for rapid research response across crisis phases, and a framework for a future digital model to support thoughtful, timely, and accountable public health action together.
